Pasil, Kalinga – The community’s continuous support and cooperation with the Philippine National Police’ anti-illegal drugs campaign is perceived to be one of the reasons why the Municipality of Pasil has zero drug cases.

According to Pasil Acting Chief of Police, Police Lieutenant Benjo Torres, the municipality remains free from the drug trade, use, and selling this 2021. He added that there were no drug cases recorded by the police for the past years, except for the 8 drug surrenderers in 2016, during the tokhang program.

This, he said, is attributed to the continuous support of the community such as the active participation of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council and the constituents not tolerating any illegal drug transactions and usage in Pasil.

“Dagiti constituents iti Pasil ket aware da iti epekto iti illegal a droga, madi da dagitoy drugs ditoy area. Isuda iti mismo nga umuna nga agi-report iti pulis tapnu action-an mi nu adda iti iserrek da a droga or adda mapan to trade drugs in the municipality,” he said.

As for the part of the police, Torres said that they regularly conduct the Enhanced Managing Police Operations and they continuously do Police Information and Continuing Education where they do lectures on illegal drugs and criminality, among others.

“Likewise kanayun mi ngay a papapigsaen met lang iti relationship mi iti bar-barangay by conducting barangay visitation, pulong-pulong, Police Information, and Continuing Education,” he said.

Meantime, Torres informed that the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, together with the Municipal Anti-Drug Council, conducted validation in Pasil last June where the barangays submitted documents to justify that their barangay is drug-free. The confirmation is yet to be known.
