PCOO Sec. Andanar, PBS Director Aportadera commit support to Gimpong FM Station

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Secretary of the Presidential Communication Operations Office (PCOO) along with the Director of Philippine Broadcasting Service (PBS) lauded those behind the launching of the DWPF 92.1 Gimpong FM Station, assuring support to its continuing operation.

Gimpong FM is a government radio station under the PBS launched through the initiative of Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang, who is also the Chairman of the House Committee on Indigenous Cultural Communities and Indigenous Peoples (CICCIP).

Said radio station is dedicated to providing information services and musical entertainment for the Indigenous Peoples of Kalinga.

Secretary Martin Andanar and PBS Director Bong Aportadera, in a video message, expressed their support to said endeavor during the inauguration of Gimpong FM held on December 8, 2021.

According to Sec. Andanar, the operation of the radio station under Radyo Pilipinas is proof of the effort of President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration to ensure that the ‘Gimpongs’ or the indigenous peoples in the Cordillera region are being heard.

The PCOO Secretary committed to continue promoting those who are “unheard, unrepresented and underrepresented” in the country to likewise make sure that their needs are acted upon for a collective development as one nation.

“May the DWPF 92.1 Gimpong FM Station be a catalyst in this regard. Hangad ng Administrasyong Duterte ang tagumpay ng inyong operasyon at nawa’y patuloy kayong maging katuwang ng pamahalaan sa pagsulong ng mga Gimpong sa Cordillera region,” Andanar stated.

Meanwhile, the PBS Director highlighted the contribution of Gimpong FM in bringing news to the community which is needed especially the updates in these trying times, adding that the radio station’s inauguration is a realization of the key role of PBS which is to inform the people of the happenings.

“Maraming salamat po sa inyong tulong at pagtupad sa aming tungkulin sa ating mga kababayan…Maasahan po ninyo ang PBS ay patuloy sa pagbibigay tulong sa ating bagong himpilan at mananatiling bukas ang aming pintuan sa pakikipagtulungan,” Aportadera committed.
