Lubuagan, Kalinga - Nine (9) barangays in Lubuagan received medical aid worth around P270,000 pesos from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office today, January 31, 2022. This was a request earlier made by the LGU and its barangays.

Each set of medicine boxes given to a barangay amounts to around 30,000 pesos. The barangays that were granted medical assistance are Mabilong, Dangoy, Antonio Canao, Poblacion, Lower Uma, Upper Uma, Western Uma, Tanglag and Mabongtot.

The medical aid, containing Paracetamol, Mefenamic Acid, Omeprazole, Amoxicillin and some vitamins like ascorbic acid and vitamin B, shall be distributed by the Municipal Health Office and Rural Health Units of the LGU for proper provision and instructions on use.

In an interview with PCSO-Kalinga Branch Manager Rommel Ramos, he said that the aid is only one part of the PCSO's mandate to help communities, explaining that PCSO exists as the charity arm of government to provide assistance to localities and LGUs across the country.

Ramos said that those LGUs that need medical aid from PCSO can write a letter to the General Manager and send their requests to the PCSO office branch at the City Hall Compound in Dagupan Centro, Tabuk City.

Meantime, Lubuagan Mayor Charisma Anne Dickpus expressed her gratitude for the response of PCSO to their request, saying the assistance shall greatly reduce ailments and sickness afflicting individuals in the community from becoming worse.

Dickpus however jested that she hopes she would not need to make another request, as not having to means the people of Lubuagan are healthy and well.

PCSO Kalinga said they will have more funding for the said medical aid program to LGUs for 2022 but are waiting for the new Implementing Rules and Regulations.
