Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Philippine National Police in Kalinga on Monday said that police officers should also be deployed inside the city’s command and monitoring system to ensure speedier response should there be a crime committed.

The command and monitoring Center was established utilizing high definition close circuit camera to monitor incidents such as crimes, disasters, road accidents among other in Tabuk City.

Data captured could be utilized by enforcers to aide them in their investigation and in solving criminality.

During the blessing and inauguration of the center this May 31, Kalinga Police Provincial Director PCol Davy Vicente Limmong expressed that there is a need for a police personnel inside, saying that if there is an incident the police officer could immediately coordinate for the law enforcers to proceed to the area.

“Para mabilis ang response. Sabi nga, may technology nga tayo pero mabagal naman tayong mag-react or hindi naipasa kaagad ‘yung information, useless din,” he said which the Tabuk City Police Chief, PLtCol Radino Belly seconded.

The Tabuk City Police Chief added that they were told a system shall be installed at the Tabuk CPS for them to have access and view what is going on around the city.

Policies on monitoring, retrieval of data sought

The Kalinga Police Provincial Director also said that protocols and procedures on the monitoring and retrieval of data and information at the command and monitoring center should be crafted.

“Not everyone can monitor, not everyone can see information because baka excited diay maysa a tao, picture-an na ket upload na idiay Facebook,” he expressed, adding that there’s a need to establish security for the pieces of information and data.

Limmong further highlighted the maintenance of the installed CCTV cameras along the streets. He said there’s a need to ensure the budget for the maintenance of the center, “baka kapusin tayo ng budget next year ay mahirap. It’s useless to open and close it next year.”

Huge Help

Further, Limmong said the center will be a huge help to the police especially on the rampant vehicular traffic accidents in Tabuk City. He expressed concern on the rising death toll this year, that it will surpass the 24 deaths in Kalinga in 2020.

The installed high definition CCTV cameras along the streets in Tabuk, he added, could also provide the data to be used as basis in improving traffic policies, engineering, and education.
