Police arrest 1,717 wanted in Cordillera for 2020; rape, murder, estafa, and theft top most number

Tabuk City, Kalinga — A total of 1,717 wanted people who committed various offenses in Cordillera were arrested in 2020, with majority of them charged for rape, murder, estafa, and theft.


These arrests are the result of the intensified Manhunt Charlie operation of the Cordilleran police.


Top most wanted persons: 264


Philippine National Police – Cordillera reported that of the 1,717 wanted people, 264 are listed as top most wanted persons – 12 in the Regional level, 103 in provincial, and 149 in the municipal level.


Moreover, 100 of these top most wanted persons were arrested in Baguio City; 78 in Benguet; 27 in Kalinga; 25 in Abra; 15 in Ifugao; 10 in Mountain Province; and 9 in Apayao.

Other wanted individuals: 1,453


Meanwhile, as to the other 1,453 wanted individuals arrested, 644 were captured in Baguio City; 282 in Benguet; 200 in Abra; 130 in Ifugao; 122 in Kalinga; 39 in Apayao; and 36 in Mountain Province.


In a separate report, the region’s top most wanted person with a P140,000 reward was captured in Ifugao this January 4, 2021 after 29 years of hiding, this was after the community provided the police with information.

The 53-year-old suspect had warrants of arrest for Multiple Frustrated Murder with no bail recommended and Attempted Murder with Assault Against an Agent of Person in Authority with a P30,000.00 recommended bail.


According to Ifugao Police Provincial Office, the suspect committed his first offense in 1992 where he threw a grenade inside a store that wounded 6 individuals. Then in 2000, he was accused for Attempted Murder with Assault against an agent of a person in authority.
