Police foils alleged transport of P7.8M marijuana

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Authorities have arrested a 35-year-old motorcycle rider allegedly transporting several marijuana bricks evening of April 25.


The police disclosed that they received information about a person on board a black HONDA XRM 125 without a plate number transporting suspected marijuana. This prompted the police to establish a checkpoint in Barangay Calanan, Kalinga Police Provincial Director PCol. Davy Vicente Limmong said.


During the operation, a motorcycle matched with the description tipped to them was seen approaching the checkpoint. However, when he sensed the presence of the operatives, he backed up to get away from the check point.



Noticing his suspicious move, the personnel pursued him until Bado Dangwa where he stopped and run away on foot from the police officers. However, the arresting officers were able to stop him.


“Hinarang da actually idiay Calanan ngem timmaray kanu so nakamat da ditoy Bado Dangwa,” Limmong said.


With the help of the drug sniffing dog, the operatives discovered millions worth of illegal drugs which was placed inside a box.

“Naala kanyana iti about 65 bricks, more or less 65 kilograms met lang, nga aggatad iti P7,800,000,” he said.


The confiscated evidence along with the suspect were brought to the Tabuk City Police Station for proper documentation. The evidence shall be brought to the Kalinga Crime Laboratory Office for examination.
