Proposed P9M KALAHI grant for Tinglayan close to approval


Tinglayan, Kalinga – The proposed priority projects of the 20 barangays in the Municipality of Tinglayan were reviewed on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, by the Municipal Inter-Agency Committee and the technical team of Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services National Community-Driven Development Program (KALAHI-CIDSS NCDDP).


This means it is closer to getting finally approved. Once approved, the said grant would help communities and families in improving their quality of life.

Municipal Information Office disclosed that the proposed projects sum up to an estimated amount of P9 million, which shall be funded by the Government of the Philippines (GOP) with a 20% counterpart from the local government of Tinglayan.


During the technical review attended by Municipal Administrator Noel Macaiba, representing Mayor Sacrament Gumilab, Municipal Social Welfare Development Officer Angeline Ando, and the barangay captains inspected the sustainability, coherence, and accuracy of the projects.

Proposed Projects of barangays


Municipal Information Office said the Barangays Upper, Lower, and Centro Bangad, Bugnay, and Ngibat proposed for rehabilitation of water system, while Sumadel I, Buscalan and Basao proposed for the construction of a communal irrigation system (CIS) in their barangays.


Meanwhile, Butbut Proper, Tulgao East, Mallango and Dananao seek for the construction of slope protection, water system, drainage canal, and motor path, respectively.

Ambato and Luplupa proposed for improvement of water system while Belong Man-ubal and Tulgao West proposed for rehabilitation of their pathway and water system.


Loccong and Old Tinglayan, on the other hand, proposed for the improvement of drainage canal and pathway; concreting of Pat-ing Pathway for Sumadel II; procurement and installation of solar-powered streetlights for barangay Poblacion.

The barangays will further undergo training and workshop on community procurement, finance, pre-implementation, and others before the implementation of the projects.

Upon the projects’ approval, the funds shall be downloaded to the trust fund of each barangay.
