Retired teacher is Tanudan’s new Municipal Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative

Tanudan, Kalinga – A retired teacher from Lubo, Tanudan was chosen to occupy the seat of the Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative at the Sangguniang Bayan to champion the rights and needs of the Indigenous People in the municipality.


Replacing the late Hon. Grace Dagadag, Jocelyn Puyao Dulagan, a retired educator and an active member of the IP community was selected by the different tribes in Tanudan to be the new Municipal Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR).


Said position at the local legislative is reserved for an IP to advocate for their rights, interests, and welfare at the council for IPs to have participation in the decision-making processes that affect them. Through the IPMR, the IPs will also be contributing to the development and legislation of policies that are beneficial to their communities.


Dulagan was proclaimed on September 16, 2025 in Sitio Banagao, Poblacion, with Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag attending the event.


Mayor Dagadag, in a statement, congratulated the newly appointed IPMR of Tanudan, describing her as an active member of the IP community, a well-rounded leader, having the commitment to show up in municipal activities, particularly those concerning the indigenous practices and people of Tanudan.


“Daytoy baro nga IPMR tayo nga ni ma’am Dulagan ket mamati ak nga mai-represent na nga nalaing dagiti tribu tayo dito Tanudan ta kas makita tayo met ket kanayun isuna nga aktibo kadagiti aktibidades tayo para iti pagsayaatan iti IP ken aktibo isuna nga advocate iti preservation iti kultura ken kaugalian tayo iti Tanudan,” the Mayor said, enjoining his constituents to support the newly designated IPMR in Tanudan.
