Retrieval stops for missing woman whose head, internal organs were found in Benguet

Kibungan, Benguet – The retrieval operation for the missing body parts of a woman whose head and internal organs were discovered at Sitio Nangamlay Poblacion, Kibungan, has already stopped, according to authorities.


The victim who was one of the fatalities of the wrath of Super Typhoon Egay in the Cordillera was identified as Angelina Domingo Apopot, 41, married, and a resident of said area.

She was buried alive last July 26, when a landslide triggered by continuous heavy rains happened near their residence while she was cleaning their pig den.


Mayor Cesar Molitas, in an interview with local media near the area, said the decision to stop the search was decided by the victim’s family.


He further relayed that the retrieved body parts of the victim were already laid to rest.


Meantime, in its latest report, the Department of Health-Cordillera said 14 lives were claimed by Typhoon Egay in the region during its onslaught last week. Eight others are still missing.


These include 4 in Abra, 1 each in Apayao, Baguio City, and Mt. Province, and 7 in Benguet.


Missing individuals, meantime, are the six individuals in Apayao, and 1 each from Abra and Benguet.


Reported injured individuals account for 81 in Abra, Benguet -23, Baguio City -5, Mt. Province – 2, Apayao -2, and Kalinga – 1.
