Rizal, Kalinga – Celebrating the Gamonang tribe’s culture and heritage, Barangay San Francisco in Rizal marked their first-ever ‘Pinassuy’ Festival on April 15 and 16, 2023.

Pinassuy or Binungor is a native delicacy in Kalinga and Barangay San Francisco serves this dish regularly in their household especially that the ingredients could easily be found in the community.

The barangay council decided to name their festival after the dish through Ordinance No. 2023 – 01 which declared Pinassuy Festival as an annual activity in San Francisco.

With the ordinance being enacted on April 3 this year, the grand fest was launched on Saturday with the yGamonangs from the seven puroks showing off their own version of pinassuy through a cooking contest.

According to San Fracisco Sangguniang Kabataan Chairperson Jovenal Salibad, the community likewise showcased their ‘Binungor’ dance and gathered for the Barangay Night.

The officials of said barangay thanked their constituents for actively participating in the festival, making the launching of Pinassuy fest a success.
