SP approves MOA to establish PhilSys Registration Center in Tabuk

Tabuk City, Kalinga―The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the City Local Government Unit (CLGU) and Philippine Statistic Authority (PSA) has been approved for the establishment of a PhilSys Registration Center in this city.

Republic Act No. 11055, otherwise known as the Philippine Identification System Act, establishes the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Registration to institute a single national identification system for all citizens and resident aliens of the Republic of the Philippines.

The motion to enter in a proposed MOA was approved by the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod on its regular session today, March 15, 2021, held at Laoagan Resort.

Said MOA by the CLGU of Tabuk represented by the City Mayor Darwin Estrañero and the (PSA) represented by PSA RSSO-CAR Regional Director Villafe Alibuyog is for them to collaborate on the implementation of PhilSys registration process.

It also covers the establishment of PhilSys registration center/s within the city.

Moreover, a certificate of confirmation from the City Legal Office is released for the proposed Memorandum of Agreement between the involved groups.

In relation to this, Resolution No. 13, dated June 9, 2020, recognizes the need for LGU’s assistance in implementing the national identification system because of their familiarity with the conditions peculiar within their respective territorial jurisdictions and capacity in mobilizing their constituents.

Also, Department of Interior and Local Government DILG in its Memorandum Circular No. 2020-99 dated July 15, 2020 enjoined all LGUs and regional DILG offices to provide assistance in the implementation of PhilSys registration operations in their respective localities.
