Tabuk City, Kalinga―A resolution establishing a Tabuk City CoViD-19 Molecular Laboratory has been passed for the city to secure a license to operate a CoViD-19 Testing in the Philippines.

Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod approved the resolution during its regular session today, March 15, 2021, held at Laoagan Resort.

Committee on Health and Sanitation Chairman Councilor Atty. Ivan Yannick Bagayao, who sponsored the resolution, said a legislative approval is one of the requirements of the Department of Health (DOH) in securing a license to operate a CoViD-19 Testing Laboratory in the country.

“It is proper that we pass a resolution ta isu ti requirement na so that hopefully this will definitely be helpful in the early determination or identification of CoViD-19 cases and in order for us to assist also or aid the Baguio Regional Testing Center,” he said.

With no laboratory, CoViD-19 RT-PCR collected swab samples of the City Health Office are sent to Baguio City for confirmatory test at the moment. The establishment of a molecular laboratory, Bagayao said, will facilitate the early detection of confirmed CoViD-19 cases providing health workers a time to act immediately to prevent the spread of the virus.

“This is, I think high need met ti city tayo and we also probably accommodate even the nearby municipalities tu, ta at least ma unclogged da idiay Baguio mas makatulong tayo pay haan lang a ditoy ili tayo a Tabuk nu di ket buo nga Kalinga,” he added.

Hence, the establishment of Tabuk City Molecular Laboratory will be advantageous in reducing the bulk of samples being processed at the Cordillera Regional CoViD-19 testing in Baguio City.
