Tabuk City, Kalinga- Owners of land, buildings, equipment, and improvements also known as real property owners now have ample time to settle their payment for delinquent taxes as the province’s august body moved the second extension of the availment of the real property tax amnesty until June 30, 2023.

The second extension is to give time for taxpayers to recover from lost income and opportunities as brought about by the pandemic. With this, taxpayers have an opportunity to pay some or all of their balance, with some penalties and interest waived.

The members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan on Tuesday, June 15, approved the motion covered by the Provincial Ordinance No. 2019-023 as amended by Ordinance No. 2020-007 extending the availment of amnesty to be extended again from June 30, 2021 to June 30, 2023.

The Provincial Treasury Office initially requested the extension to be until June 30 this year.

However, Board Member Christian Pic-it proposed the extension to 2023 due to the economic impact of the pandemic, saying that the initial request “is too short” for the taxpayers to look and process their payment.

Assistant Treasurer Richard Daliyong who appeared upon the body’s request agreed to the suggestion of Pic-it. He cited that the office have only 5% collection from the availing of the Real Property Tax Amnesty with a total amount delinquency of P254,662,572.22.

Meanwhile, Board Member Shirlynne Alunday likewise advised the office to facilitate the collection of taxes, and not to wait until the deadline.
