SP Kalinga upheld chainsaw regulation in Pinukpuk


Tabuk City, Kalinga – Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan under the leadership of Vice Governor Dave Odiem upheld the ordinance regulating the use and operation of chainsaw in the Municipality of Pinukpuk during their regular session on July 6.


Ordinance No. 2021 – 07 entitled; “An Ordinance Regulating the Use and Operation of Chainsaw within The Municipality of Pinukpuk and Providing Penalties for Violation Thereof”, mandates that chainsaw can only be used occasionally in Pinukpuk to avoid noise pollution among communities and prevent untoward incidents and illegal activities using chainsaws.


The ordinance only allows the use of chainsaws during the onslaught of typhoons to cut damaged trees, during funerals, weddings, public activities and government projects when tree cutting is needed.

Moreover, chainsaw can also be used for road and electric lines clearing and widening.


However, its operation should be away from certain areas like hospitals, schools during school hours, government offices during office hours, churches during mass, houses and private establishments from 8:00 am – 6:00 pm.


Violators of the ordinance will pay P500 for the first offense; P1,500 for second; and P2,500 for the third offense.


Among those who are tasked to implement the ordinance include the Pinukpuk Municipal Police Station, barangay officials, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources - Community Environment and Natural resources Office in Pinukpuk.
