SP Tabuk proposes to increase aide for persons in crisis

Tabuk City, Kalinga - An increase in the financial assistance extended to people in crisis situation has been proposed by the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod during their regular session on June 10 with Vice Mayor Bernard Glenn Dao-as presiding.


The amendment on the ordinance relative to assistance to individuals in crisis situation (AICS) was approved for 2nd reading and referred to the Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Welfare and Social Welfare Development.

Councilor Zorayda Wacnang, one of the authors of the ordinance, explained that the amendment was proposed to increase the assistance for persons in crisis situation in the city.


“The last amendment gamin was in 2015 under former Councilor Lucretina Sarol, and it is about time nga i-increase tayo considering the cost of living and the cost of hospitalization,” she remarked.


The ordinance states that there is a need to increase the amount of financial assistance extended to people in crisis situation, considering the continuing devaluation of peso and the present cost of living.

Assistance to the individuals includes transportation for Balik-Probinsya wherein PhP1,000 is provided for those coming from other places in Cordillera, PhP2,000 for within Luzon, and PhP3,000 for those coming from Visayas and Mindanao.

For hospitalization, PhP5,000 assistance is being proposed for outpatient, PhP7,000 for in-patient, and PhP10,000 for surgical cases.


Moreover, assistance will also be to victims of man-made/ natural disaster, emergency shelter assistance, women/children in especially difficult circumstances (WEDC/CEDC), Physical Restoration (APR) of Persons with Disabilities (PWD).


Assistance also covers burial assistance, assistance to displaced families and Emergency Financial and/or food assistance to walk-in clients.
