Tinglayan, Kalinga – Sports promote good relationships among the next generation who will be partners in introducing future developments in Kalinga.

This view came from Mayor Sacrament Gumilab during the opening program of the 2023 Kalinga Provincial Athletic Meet on April 14 in Rizal.

“I have seen sports as one of the unifying factors in every aspect of the life of a human being. Now, we, the people of Kalinga are here because of sports. We’re here together because we want to give an opportunity to the students to showcase their skills,” he expressed.

Gumilab pointed out that this convention of young individuals in the province would lead to developing rapport which these next leaders will be using in the future as they work together for the betterment of Kalinga.

“From teenage years, they will establish unity and friendship … and when they will reach adulthood and maturity, they will be partners in developing our province,” he noted.

The mayor left the athletes a piece of advice to practice sportsmanship, emphasizing that while they compete with each other, they are one and they are all yKalingas.

Meantime, Gumilab vowed to improve the equipment for the players in Tinglayan's next provincial meet saying, “We should improve next year. We have reasons now because of the pandemic but next year, we should give our best. We should give the best equipment to our athletes so that they should be performing well in the different categories of sports.”
