No dream is too big when one has determination and courage, just like what a proud son of a farmer in Isabela did, proving this true by becoming an internationally certified medical scientist.

Jonelle Basubas Agas, from Cauayan City, was once a simple student with big dreams. He studied medical technology at the University of Perpetual Help System Isabela, where he worked hard to learn everything he could about his field.

In 2023, he became a registered medical technologist. Wanting to share his knowledge and teach others achieve their dreams too, Jonelle took the Licensure Examination for Teachers, which he passed in 2024.

Despite his achievements, Jonelle went on to an even higher level of success. In 2025, he passed the International Medical Laboratory Scientist (IMLS) exam from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). This is a global certification given to skilled professionals who are experts in laboratory science.

With the certification, Jonelle is now qualified to work in top laboratories around the world, especially in countries like the United States, Canada, and the Middle East.

Currently, as mentioned by a local media outlet, Jonelle is working at Dr. Ester R. Garcia Medical Center in Cauayan City, where he uses his skills to help patients and serve his community. Despite his achievements, he remains humble, always remembering where he came from.

From the rice fields of Isabela to passing an international exam, Jonelle has shown that with hard work, anything is possible.
