Tabuk City, Kalinga – The City Government of Tabuk, through its City Public Information Office, will be holding a press conference on August 23, 2021, to discuss four controversial issues concerning the public from 12.00 noon to 5 pm at Davidson Hotel, Bulanao Tabuk City.

In the letter from City Information Officer Aurora Amilig inviting the local media, it said the press conference aims to “set an avenue to build a better communication linkage between the City Government and the local media as partners in advocating government programs to empower communities in their decision making and improve their lives and Tabuk City as a whole, eventually.”

The main subjects include two issues which top discussions in the public sphere, the Bulanao Hydro-Electric Power Plant (BHEPP) business permit suspension and the P1.9 Billion loan of Tabuk City from the Development Bank of the Philippines.

Earlier, the Sangguniang Panglungsod recommended the suspension of BHEPP over complaints of farmer groups on issues regarding water supply.

Meantime, the P1.9 Billion loan of the City of Tabuk has drawn various criticisms over lack of details and questions regarding processes as well as questions on identification of projects as to whether they are the ‘must be’ priorities.

Other topics to be discussed include the accomplishments of the City Inter-Agency Task Force Accomplishments, Guidelines for Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ), and Creation of Taskforce in compliance with MGCQ Guidelines. Added to this is the National Housing Authority Assistance to residents affected by the government’s Road Right Of Way clearing operations.
