Apayao PLGU offers free legal services to solve land issues

Luna, Apayao – Aimed at solving issues on real property ownership, the provincial government of Apayao through Task Force LUSA and its free LAWYERS kicked off on Monday, February 6 its five-day-caravan providing legal services to those in need coming from various municipalities in the province.


LUSA, a native term for ‘land’ by the Apayaoans and an abbreviated term for Lawful and Unified initiatives in Safeguarding Apayao lands is a group especially formed in 2022 through executive order 37 by Provincial Governor Elias Bulut Jr.

The task force chaired by the governor was created having observed the low real property collection in the province due to land ownership-related issues and concerns.


It is led by the Provincial Assessor’s Office (PAssO) in partnership with national-line agencies which include the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, Land Registration Authority, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Department of Public Works and highways, among others.


Free LAWYERS led by Atty. Ranvylle Albano, meantime, stands for Free Legal Assistance for the Welfare of Yapayaos with Education and Resolution Services.


The group offers free consultations, free notary and other legal services.

On its first day, over a hundred individuals were served, of which, most of the problems referred are land transfers, surveys, tax declarations, and subdivisions.


Apayaoans shall also expect other services as Provincial Assessor Catalina Pacis said they will also offer free relocation and survey of real properties, and free payment of real property tax for qualified taxpayers.


The free services of the team will run until February 10 at the Apayao Eco-Tourism and Sports Complex in San Gregorio, Luna.

Alongside the activity is the awarding of a certificate of land ownership to 20 individuals from Amado, Pudtol by the Department of Agrarian Reform.
