Tabuk City, Kalinga – Patrolman Harwin Baggay, who lost his life in the line of duty, returned home Wednesday afternoon, July 2, 2025.

Baggay was shot by an armed robber when he and his buddy responded to the successive gunfire they heard near their post early on the morning of Monday, June 30. The gunman who had already shot his vendor victim pulled the trigger at Baggay before he was killed in the shootout.

The suspect was later found with records of illegal possession of firearms, alarm and scandal, and attempted homicide.

Baggay was given arrival honors by the Kalinga Police Provincial Office as his remains arrived at their residence in Bacras, Bulanao, Tabuk City today. The fallen cop’s father, Hector Baggay, earlier shared that the 28-year-old police officer had served in the Philippine National Police for three years.

He also revealed that the young police came home to attend his sibling’s wedding on June 7. Unfortunately, that was the last time they saw him alive.

The Philippine National Police through PGen. Nicolas Torre III awarded a ‘Medalya ng Kadakilaan’ to the slain police for his heroism, courage, and commitment to service.
