Tinglayan, Kalinga – Ensuring Tinglayan’s continuous commitment to protecting the well-being of children and women in the municipality, the Municipal Council for the Protection of Children (MCPC) underwent training on handling sensitive cases involving kids and women.

The event was initiated by the Municipal LGU headed by Mayor Charles Abay, on Thursday, August 28, at the Municipal Hall.

Said training focused on equipping the MCPC members with knowledge on and skills in handling delicate cases involving Children in Conflict with the Law, Children at Risk, and Violence against Women and Children.

These topics were discussed and processed by Honorable Romelyn Gayagay-Alinao, Judge of 1st Municipal Circuit Trial Court Tinglayan – Tanudan, Kalinga, who was invited as the resource speaker in the capacity-building activity.

Municipal Administrator, Atty. Mark Dave Bang-as, in his message, emphasized that the laws and guidelines tackled in the event are not merely rules to follow but tools to help and transform the lives of the vulnerable sectors.

“By being here, each of you is taking a stand for compassion, justice, and dignity-for every child who feels lost, for every woman and child suffering in silence, and for every life that needs healing and hope,” he said.

The municipal administrator likewise reminded every member of the MCPC that their mandate goes beyond policies and paperwork as they carry the responsibility of ensuring the protection of every child and woman in the municipality.

“The work is not easy, but it is necessary, and it starts with us. Thank you for your dedication. Let's make every learning moment count for the people we serve and for the future we are shaping,” Bang-as concluded.

Meantime, Mayor Charles Abay, in an interview, said he is thankful for the help of Judge Alinao and underscored the importance of the event in adding to the knowledge and skills of the workers of the MLGU. Abay believes this further prepares the MCPC when cases of violence against children and women arise.
