In an interview with GURU Press Cordillera, Bokod Police Chief Investigator PCMS Randy Sumali said that the pick-up involved, which came from Tabuk City and was heading towards Baguio, was ferrying five individuals.

However, when it reached Sitio Jappas, Brgy. Bobok-Bisal past 3:00 a.m. today, June 30, it was said that the driver lost control of the vehicle as its steering wheel locked, which led to the fall of the vehicle into the 300-meter ravine.

Rescuers rushed the occupants to the hospital; however, two of them were declared dead upon arrival. Names of the victims are withheld until members of their family are informed. The other three incurred injuries – two of them were referred to the Baguio General Hospital for further medical intervention while the driver of the pick-up was discharged.

Sumali said that the driver is now under their custody, while the bodies of the two casualties remain at the hospital morgue while waiting for their family to get them.
