Tuguegarao City, Cagayan―The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) targets to open commercial flights at Tuguegarao City Airport this March 05, 2021 following the easing of travel guidelines in and out of the region.

Earlier, Governor Manuel Mamba mentioned thru Executive Order No. 02, Series of 2021 the planned resumption of commercial flights at the Tuguegarao City Airport to facilitate faster movements of necessary travels.

Cagayan Provincial Information Office said Mary Sulyn Sagorsor, Area Manager of CAAP Tuguegarao, had a meeting with the Tuguegarao Local Government, Department of Health (DOH), Philippine National Police (PNP) and other stakeholders to ensure protocols will be followed.

Sagorsor said a passenger must submit relevant documents before he/she can get a ticket and boarding pass. Passengers leaving the city are required to present a Barangay Certificate, Travel Authority and Certificate of Acceptance at the destination.

Meanwhile, returning residents of Tuguegarao City will be asked for the Affidavit of Undertaking to prove that they will comply with the 14-day mandatory quarantine. The local government unit will later have them undergo swab test. If the passenger, returning home, tested negative with CoViD-19, he will be allowed to undergo home quarantine.

Sagorsor added that a passenger returning to the city may choose a quarantine facility and if he wishes to go straight to an accredited hotel quarantine facility, he will have to pay for the expenses.

For non-residents, they need to book a vehicle to pick them up from the airport and the PNP will accompany them to the boundary of their homeland or province.

Meantime, flights to Tuguegarao Airport will be temporarily opened on Mondays and Thursdays only.
