Van falls into 200-meter ravine in Dupag, Tabuk; Driver and passenger survived

Tabuk City, Kalinga - A vehicular accident transpired earlier this day, August 18, at Sitio Tomyangan, Dupag, Tabuk City, involving a Delica van.  


In an interview, the office of Governor James Edduba said they were notified about the incident through a phone call.


Upon receiving the report, the Governor immediately dispatched the Lumin-awa Rescue Team to respond. The team was joined by responders from BFP—Lubuagan and Pasil, the PDRRMC-Kalinga, and others.

Initial investigation revealed that the van was en route to Ilocos Sur from Dugpa, Pinukpuk, when it lost control along the Tabuk-Bontoc Road in Dupag around 3:00 a.m. after experiencing mechanical problems and fell into the 200-meter ravine.  


As relayed by the Office of the Governor, occupants of the van were identified as Jerry Mayyon (owner and driver) and Caesar Marquez Jr.(passenger).  


Fortunately, the two both survived the incident.


Said office narrated that Marquez jumped off from the van before it fell, while Mayyon went down with the van but managed to survive as he swam out from the vehicle and crossed the river where the vehicle landed.


The two were assisted by a colleague who was following them on a motorcycle, rushing them to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital for medical attention.

Tatta, adda met diay sumarsaruno nga kadwada nga nakamotor nga isu nagluganan da napan KPH, ” the office of the governor added. 


As for the vehicle, authorities are waiting for the equipment to retrieve it from the ravine.
