Tabuk City, Kalinga — Speaking to the Kalinga Police personnel, Vice Governor Atty. Dave Odiem reminded the police officers of three gifts to be grateful for– love, sharing, and service; and to think about these as they perform their work in their respective areas of responsibility.

There are about 995 police officers in Kalinga serving 7 municipalities and the City of Tabuk, covering an area of 3,231.25 square kilometers. In less populated areas, the ratio is 1 policeman to 500 individuals, but in the capital, it is 1 to 350.

Odiem delivered this before the Kalinga police this December 17 during the Kalinga Police Provincial Office Christmas celebration and Thanksgiving.

The vice governor, in his message, expressed that while the Christmas celebration is no longer the same as this time is challenging with the threat of Covid-19 still lingering around, this season is still very much worth celebrating even in a simple way as it is the birth of Jesus Christ.

“I-continue tayo latta nga i-celebrate in a simple way iti daytoy nga Christmas tayo kasdiay met iti panakaiyanak ni Apo,” he expressed.

In celebration of the Holidays, Odiem encourages the kalinga police to reflect on three gifts – love, sharing, and service. According to the vice governor, the gift of love is the greatest among these, encapsulating his explanation with John 3:16 from the Bible.

For the second gift which is sharing, Odiem noted that this gift has been already experienced mostly this pandemic where the people generously helped one another and shared what they have.

“Idi time iti pandemya, permi kakaasi tayo idi ket idiay makitam daytoy generosity iti kailyan nga taga Kalinga ta agited tayo iti advice, agited tayo iti makan, nu anya man iti adda kandatayo, mangted tayo iti agas tapnu iti kasta ket umimbag ken sumayaat dagiti kailyan tayo,” he said.

Moreover, as for the gift of service, Odiem mentioned about the service the health workers and the Philippine National Police who worked and still working at the frontline amidst this battle against Covid-19.

“The Philippine National Police together with the health workers tayo ket dakkel unay iti effort yu iti daytoy laban tayo iti pandemya ket agyaman kami unay idiay efforts yu ta uray i-tatta ket itul-tuloy yu latta diay nga napintas nga serbisyo tayo,” he conveyed.

The vice governor wrapped up his message by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, “agkarkararag tayo latta met iti Nawarswa ta sapay kuma ta adu nga bendisyon iti ma-receive tayo intun umay nga 2022. Sapay kuma ta awanen metten kuma daytoy nga covid-19.”
