Tabuk City, Kalinga – During her taking an oath as Acting-Vice Mayor of Tabuk City this December 28 after the suspension of Vice-Mayor Bernard Glenn Dao-as due to backfilling and land conversion complaints, Councilor Atty. Zorayda Mia Wacnang said she would continue what Dao-as started and that she looks forward to working with other officials to mend relationships with one another for the betterment of the city.

“We have to continue nu anya man dagiay narugyan ti Vice Mayor’s Office and improve them, if there are rooms for improvement,” Wacnang said.

The highest sanggunian member, in her message, acknowledged that she is unsure how to feel about the turn over of power and responsibilities from Dao-as and her oath taking considering the ‘disheartening’ happenings in the city and of ‘how we came to this point.’

“But I always believe that we should not dwell on the past but we always have to look forward and looking forward, we have to work especially now,” Wacnang underscored.

The Acting-Vice Mayor hopes for consolation among the government officials to prevail not just in the service ‘but we should really work to reconcile and to work together for Tabuk City.’

Wacnang committed to do her best to carry out her duties and responsibilities as Acting-Vice Mayor.

The Office of the Ombudsman released on February 8, 2021 their ruling of the case filed on October 19, 2019 by a certain Jude Clint Dirige Escario alleging illegal backfilling and conversion of the P7.2 million lot bought by Dao-as in 2004 when he was yet the barangay captain of Appas, Tabuk City.

The order of the said office was served only to the Vice Mayor’s Office yesterday, December 27, 2021.
