What’s behind the viral video of Tabuk teen beating up a friend while others cheered on?

Updated: May 7, 2021

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A little disagreement fueled by peer pressure led a teenager to beat up her friend along the street in Dagupan Weste last Saturday, May 1.

In a viral video posted on Facebook and shared on private messages, a group of girls were seen pushing one of their friends towards the victim, urging her to take action.

After some moments of pressure, the girl was pushed towards the victim where she grabbed the latter’s hair with both hands bringing her on the ground.

For approximately 7 seconds, she kept pulling the victim’s hair with so much force and then slapped her head before she stopped.

Her peers were giggling and cheering on the background while the victim lied on the ground defenseless.

In the video, no one helped the victim apart from the two bystanders who helped her get up while the girls were preparing to leave.

Conversation with the group involved

In an interview, Dagupan Weste Punong Barangay Santiago Soto Jr., had a dialogue with 8 girls ages 15-18 together with 5 parents at the barangay hall today, May 5 to ask them what happened. He added that the City Social Welfare and Development personnel were also present.

The 8 teens who bullied the victim revealed that they just came from a get together and met the victim along the street in Dagupan Weste.

“Tapos iti kunana adda lang bassit a haan da nagkinaawatan ken naala iti sulisug, kinabil na,” Soto said.
