1,100 yKalinga students receive over P5M educational aid from PLGU Kalinga

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Over a thousand students from various college institutions and vocational schools in the province benefitted from the educational assistance program of the provincial local government of Kalinga.

The assistance amounting to P5,000 each was handed over to 800 tertiary education students and 300 vocational school students.

While others were able to get their cash aid on earlier dates, more or less 800 individuals got theirs on Friday, December 29 at the Kalinga Capitol Park.

The program prioritizes third and fourth-year college students alongside those taking vocational courses aimed at ensuring access to higher education, promoting vocational skills, and empowering the youth.

It is expected that there will be more recipients next year as the provincial government plans to increase its funding in 2024.

The amount budgeted this year is around P5 million, while for next year, it will be P8 million.

In a message to the beneficiaries during the awarding, Governor James Edduba advised them to do well in their studies for a better future while applying the Kalinga core values, the ‘paniyaw’, 'ngilin', and ‘bain’ during the process.

He emphasized that investing in the educational pursuits of yKalingas would also pave the way for a ‘brighter, more prosperous future for Kalinga province’.
