Tabuk City, Kalinga – As of December 28, at least 13 sellers of firecrackers have been granted fire safety clearance from the Bureau of Fire Protection, a document prerequisite to special permit granted to individuals who can sell unprohibited pyrotechnic devices.

This is part of the regulation of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices this yuletide season, says Kalinga Provincial Fire Director, SUPT Allan Eballar.

“Bago po sila makakuha ng BPLO permit or special mayor’s permit, kailangan pong magkaroon sila ng fire safety clearance coming from the BFP, tapos permit to possess and display fireworks from PNP,” Eballar explains.

The Kalinga Provincial Fire Director also reiterated that stalls with permits are only allowed to sell unprohibited firecrackers in front of the city hall.

“Hindi po pwedeng dahil may pwesto sila sa mga palengke o kaya kung saan sila may pwesto na allowed na magbenta ng mga paninda nila, pagdating po sa paputok, hindi po sila pwedeng kung saan po nila gustong mag-display,” he explains, adding that the different concerned agencies also go around to check.

Moreover, to avoid any untoward incidents and to promote the safety of everyone as the new year approaches, Eballar also reminds the public to use firecrackers responsibly and at designated areas where they are only allowed to be utilized.

It could be recalled that the Department of Interior and Local Government, in a press release this December 28, mobilized the BFP, PNP, and LGUs to impose strict measures on illegal firecrackers and the prevention of indiscriminate firing.

This is to avoid any undue injuries to people and to prevent fire incidents.
