Mabaca, Tanudan youth celebrate 4th Linggo ng Kabataan thru sports and performing arts

Tanudan, Kalinga – The youth in Mabaca celebrated the 4th Linggo ng Kabataan in the municipality, practicing sportsmanship and showing talents in the arts in Mabaca Gymnasium from December 24 to 26,2021.

The event was composed of various contested activities such as basketball, chess, volleyball, cultural dance competition, and the Search for Miss Mabaca.

In an interview with Mabaca Sangguniang Kabataan Chairperson, Aprhilyne Gunnawa Banya-ao, she mentioned that the activities were chosen to promote the spirit of camaraderie, sportsmanship, and friendship among the youth in Mabaca and guest participants from Pangol and Lubo.

“As the SK chairman, we need to conduct this event as it promotes a good state of wellbeing among the youth both in mind and body,” she said.

Banya-ao also added that the event aims at cultivating teamwork and leadership among the people, “playing in a team helps the youth to develop many of the social skills they will need for life. It teaches them to cooperate, teamwork and to be less selfish, leadership and sportsmanship,” she said.

Meantime, winners of the event received cash prizes. For basketball, the first place was awarded P4,000; P3,500 for the second; P3,000 for the third; the rest was given P2,000 consolation.

As for volleyball, P3,000 was given to the first place; P2,500 for second; P2,000 for third; and P1,500 consolation.

For the chess competition, the first place was given P1,000; P800 for the second; and P600 for the third. Additionally, an amount of P1,500 was awarded to the first place in cultural dance; P1,300 for the second; and P1,000 for the third.

Lastly, P2,000 cash was given to the first place for the pageant; P1,500 for the second; P1,300 for the third; and P1,000 consolation prize.
