Tabuk City, Kalinga – With Christmas fast approaching, Acting Governor and Vice Governor Dave Q. Odiem reminded the public of the true essence of the holiday season and emphasized the need to continue focusing on recovery efforts following the impact of Typhoon Uwan.

Super Typhoon Uwan left damages reaching P1.28 Billion as of November 12 report of the Province of Kalinga. The typhoon likewise left many villages isolated and roads, infrastructures, and government facilities destroyed.

During the flag-raising ceremony on November 24, 2025, at the Capitol Gymnasium in Bulanao, Odiem delivered his message to provincial government employees and the public, highlighting the importance of prioritizing the province’s recovery amidst the festive season.

Speaking before provincial stakeholders, the legislator noted that while the Christmas season should be welcomed with joy and excitement, addressing the challenges left by the typhoon must remain a top priority.

“We should be happy and excited in welcoming the Christmas Season. However, in the remaining weeks before Christmas, we must focus on addressing the aftermath of Typhoon Uwan. The provincial government is intensifying its support to address the needs of our people,” said Odiem.

He also commended the various agencies involved in monitoring and relief operations before, during, and after the typhoon.

“I commend the PDRRMC, PNP, Army Reservists, BFP, health workers, all frontliners, PLGU officials, barangay officials, employees, and volunteers who continuously monitored and assisted even before, during, and after Typhoon Uwan. Agpupuyat da piman, adu ti nagpuy-puyat. Kin naban-bannug iti daytuy nga inummayan ni Uwan,” Odiem said.

Odiem added that the provincial government continues to extend help and support to barangays that were isolated due to the typhoon.

The acting governor, serving while Governor James Edduba is on official overseas study travel, then called on all PLGU personnel, government agencies, barangay officials, and civil society leaders to maximize their programs in the remaining weeks of the year to maintain peace and order in the province.
