2,123 Kalinga farmers to get cash assistance starting January 16

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Payouts for 2,123 Rice Farmer Financial Assistance (RFFA) beneficiaries in the province start January 16, 2021 to complete the giving of cash aid to more than 11 thousand farmers in the province.

The RFFA cash assistance was a response of the government to alleviate the impact of the Rice Tarrification Law which sent rice prices down in 2019. The RFFA is a cash transfer program launched by the Department of Agriculture with Landbank which gives P5,000 financial assistance to rice farmers cultivating 0.5 to 2 hactares of land.

Beneficiaries from Tabuk City will be the first one to receive their financial assistance starting on the 1st day of pay-out to January 26. 500 people will be accomodated on January 16; 145 on 19; 145 on 20; 145 on 21; and 140 on 26.

Additionally, the pay-out for Tabuk City beneficiary on January 16 starts from 8:00 AM to 12 Noon while the following days will be from 2:00PM to 4:00 PM.

For Pinukpuk, the 121 beneficiaries are scheduled to receive their assistance on January 27 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM. The following day will be for Tanudan with 86 beneficiaries on January 28. They shall also be accomodated from 2-4PM.

Moreover, for Rizal, the start of pay-out will be on January 30 – February 4. The first day will accomodate 500 beneficiaries from 8AM – 12 noon. For February 2, 120 beneficiaries will be served; another 120 on Febuary 3, and 101 on February 4. All of these will be from 2-4PM.

Beneficiaries will get their assistance at Landbank-Tabuk and personal apperance of the recipients are required except for senior citizens.

Nevertheless, in an interview with Provincial Agriculturist Domingo Bakilan, he said the scheduling might be adjusted to ensure safety protocols. He said the process of the dole out shall be discussed in the next Provincial Interagency Agency task Force.

Bakilan is hoping that the distribution of the cash assistance shall be complete by the month of February.
