2 Kalinga OFW beauties compete in Igorot Migrant Workers Pageant 2022 in Israel

Updated: Aug 18, 2022

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Two overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Kalinga will vie for the Miss AIMWI (Association of Igorot Migrant Workers in Israel) 2022 on Saturday evening, August 20 at Beit Dani Auditorium in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The search was launched as part of the highlight of the 21st anniversary celebration of AIMWI.

The association is said to be a platform for showcasing women's empowerment, diversity, intelligence, and leadership of OFW Igorota Women in Israel.

Eight female candidates, 2 each from Abra, Benguet, Mt. Province, and Kalinga will show their beauty and talent in said pageant.

The two candidates from Kalinga province hail from the municipalities of Tanudan and Pasil.

Kalinga beauty from Mangali, Tanudan

Primrose Ammoya, 29 years old from Poblacion Mangali Tanudan said that she started working as a caregiver in Israel since February 12, 2017. Inspired by her family and friends who believe in her ability, she was convinced to join the pageant.

Primrose revealed it was difficult to manage time and preparation, especially with her work and her lack of experience.

“I worked during the day and at night. After I put my patient to bed, I watched pageant videos in Youtube since I don’t have any experience yet. I walked and posed like imitating the beauty queens and practice smiling naturally. I asked some people for possible pageant questions and tried to answer them,” she relayed.

Through the pageant, she hopes to build her self-confidence while involving herself with the community.

Kalinga beauty from Balinciagao Norte, Pasil

Another Kalinga candidate is the 27-year-old Aimee Karell Obar from Balinciagao Norte, Pasil.

Aimee started working as a caregiver in the country since December 28, 2020.

She accepted the challenge to join the search to boost her confidence and gain knowledge and experience at the same time. She likewise said her mother encouraged her to try.

“She's always been my number 1 supporter in everything I do. With the encouragement of family and friends who pushed me into this kind of endeavor, I was inspired to try,” expressed Aimee.

With the help of her friends in Netanya, she has found time to practice despite having a full-time work.
