PNP-Tinglayan reports ‘No drug users, pushers among Tinglayan students’

Updated: Aug 17, 2022

Tinglayan, Kalinga – In their records, no student was reportedly involved in drug use or drug selling in the Municipality of Tinglayan, according to the town’s chief of police.

Police Captain Luis Bulao told Guru Press Cordillera that so far, they have not documented any young individuals and students in Tinglayan involved in drug use.

Bulao said this could be attributed to the active involvement of young people and stakeholders in the implementation of Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terrorismo(KKDAT) in all the barangays in the municipality. The KKDAT, he said, is a huge help as members empower their fellow youth by initiating activities that keep them away from illegal drugs and illegal weeds.

“Da isuda iti tumultulong a mangikamkampanya daytoy campaign tayo against iti illegal drugs,” he said.

Bulao also said that among their activities in the campaign against illegal drugs is visiting schools and giving lectures to the young.

Five barangays to be cleared of illegal drugs

Meantime, five barangays in Tinglayan are yet to be cleared of illegal drugs. These include Barangays Tulgao West, Loccong, Buscalan, Upper Butbut, and Ngibat.

According to the chief of police, there are still marijuana plantation sites at the said areas.

For the first half of 2022, authorities burned a total of P426,950,000.00 worth of fully grown marijuana plants, seeds, and stalks.
