2 Tanudan villages expecting P1M each from government’s poverty alleviation program

Updated: Sep 17, 2021

Tanudan, Kalinga – Once their proposed projects passed the guidelines, each of the two barangays in Tanudan shall be granted P1 million of funding from the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program.

KALAHI-CIDSS is a poverty alleviation program of the national government implemented through the Department of Social Welfare and Development. Through the assistance of this program, community-identified needs such as infrastructure, bridges, health stations, and many more have been built around the country.

DSWD – CAR Social Marketing Officer Eden Fataner said that the two recipients are barangays Angacan and Taloctoc. Due to limited available funds, these two barangays identified as the top priority by the local government unit during the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council meeting will only be the ones to be funded for now.

According to Fataner Barangay Angacan proposed for the improvement of their irrigation system while, Taloctoc is proposing for a river block/control along the Bakongkong River, adding that each proposal is worth P1 million each. The local government of Tanudan would also be allotting a counterpart for said projects.

Both projects, she said, have been validated recently and that they just have to comply with the processes to include passing the guidelines, the conduct of meetings and undergo a series of social preparations, “then after that ibababa na po ‘yung pondo kung approved po siya and then project implementation na po.”

Funds could be downloaded this month, and from October to November, trainings and project implementation are expected.

Mayor Jaedicke Ross Dagadag expressed his appreciation for the inclusion of the two barangays as recipients of said program, which he said would contribute to the development of Tanudan.

“Dakkel a tulong ta dagitoy a projects da ket imbes a punpunduan mi, adda ti katulungan mi a mangpundo ken dagita a projects,” he said, adding that the MLGU will also have a percentage of counterpart on the projects.

“Dagitoy pundoan met lang ti KALAHI ket dagitoy priority project met lang ti kada barangay ket dakkel a tulong, ta isu ti partner mi tattan ta adda met lang ti counterpart ti LGU dita,” he added.
