Cagayan, Philippines – “Nasa puso niya talaga ang pagsusundalo,” this is how a grieving mother described her soldier son who died while on a mission in Gattaran, Cagayan on April 19.

Private Raymund Mones who was only 23 was with his colleagues when he drowned in a river, the 5th Infantry Division(ID) reported.

Raymund was a native of Pangasinan but he was deployed in Cagayan Valley after being part of the Special Forces to help in operations against remaining armed members of the Komiteng Rehiyon Cagayan Valley.

While lamenting the death of her son, Concepcion said she doesn’t regret supporting her son’s desire and childhood dream to serve the country by joining the Philippine Army.

Concepcion recalled how her son would regularly ask her if they still have money and upon confirming they are falling short of budget, Raymund would immediately send them cash.

I love you,” Concepcion expressed.

The remains of Raymund were brought home to Pangasinan.

The 5th Infantry Division extended their sympathy to the family, saying that Raymund’s dedication to service is an inspiration to Filipinos to keep the peace not just in Cagayan Valley but also in the country.
