Updated: May 13

La Trinidad, Benguet -  To help boost their agricultural production, some 29 farmer groups in the province of Benguet were provided with P21 million worth of agricultural interventions by the Department of Agriculture – Cordillera.

DA - Cordillera, in its press release, cited that Benguet is one of the major suppliers of vegetables in the Philippines; thus, the aid aims to secure a sufficient supply of food in the country.

The aid, composed of farm machinery and equipment, includes 33 tractors, 4 rain shelters, 20 power sprayers, and 10 pump irrigation systems from open source (PISOS).

The beneficiaries received them during the turnover ceremony, which took place on May 9, 2024 in Wangal, La Trinidad.

In his message during the ceremony, Regional Agricultural and Fishery Council Chairperson and Farmer Regional Executive Director Ryan Palunan underscored the importance of the given interventions in up-scaling and innovating the agricultural practices of the farmers.

He also encouraged them to attend training and seminars being provided by the government for their improvement as agri-preneurs.

Meantime, representatives of Congressman Eric Go Yap and Kapangan Mayor Manny Fermin advised the beneficiaries to utilize, take care of, and maintain the interventions they received.
