Cauayan, Isabela – A 32-year-old woman in Isabela and a 63-year-old kagawad in Isabela were arrested earlier this week after having been charged with having an illicit affair but were later freed due to lack of evidence.
Police report, through 98.5 i-FM Cauayan, said the complaint was lodged by the woman’s husband, together with his mother and sibling on Wednesday, September 14 at the Cauayan police station.
The man’s complaint alleged that his wife is having a forbidden love affair with another man.
According to the complainant, his wife and the 63-year-old barangay ‘kagawad’ of Barangay Minante 2 of Cauayan have had a relationship for a long time, but he only had the courage to speak that time and seek help from the authorities.
He further informed the police that his wife was living with her lover in a “house for rent” in said barangay.
To prove his claim, the husband and the police went to the said barangay where they confirmed that the complainant’s wife and her lover were together in the said boarding house.
This prompted the police to arrest the couple and take them to the PNP Cauayan station.
Nevertheless, due to a lack of evidence, the complainant’s wife and the 63-year-old man were released from detention.
Police added that the two already gave a counter affidavit to the respondent to defend themselves.
Last year, another complainant from Barangay Marabulig Uno of Cauayan also filed a complaint against his 20-year-old wife because of a lover.
The complainant led the members of PNP Cauayan to a boarding house where they caught his wife and her lover having a sexual affair.
The authorities arrested the two individuals and charged them with adultery.
