Tabuk City, Kalinga – Around 323 young individuals took the Philippine Military Academy entrance examination at the Kalinga State University this September 2, the first day of the three-day examinations.

Major Renato Wayagwag, team leader of the proctors, shared that out of the 323, there were 198 walk-in applicants, the rest were regular or those who have already submitted their documents prior to the examination date.

He said that the examination will be until September 4 for those who are interested to be PMA cadets. Both walk-in and online applicants will be accommodated.

The venue for the examination is at the Kalinga State University at 8:00 in the morning. Applicants must bring along the needed requirements and be reminded that accommodation will be on a first come first serve basis.

“To all interested and to those who aspire to be a cadet, we encourage you to take this exam. This is an opportunity for you to take kasi kami na po mismo ang pumupunta sa Tabuk,” he said.

Wayagwag relates, as it was observed for the past years, that the Kalinga youth have shown their interest in becoming a PMA cadet and in joining the military.

“For example, sa ngayon kasi, ‘yung Class 2025 na first year na sila ngayon, based sa data namin is nasa 16. So hindi po nawawala ‘yung mga taga Kalinga na naka-qualify or pumapasok sa PMA,” he said.

Meanwhile, after passing the entrance exam, the first phase into becoming a cadet, the applicants have to undergo physical fitness tests and others. After the screening, 350 cadets will join Class 2026.

Wayagwag is encouraging those who will not be accommodated until September 4 to take the entrance exam in Tuguegarao once it is scheduled.
