“5 days after boy found dead, brother still missing”: Search for Markcliff continues in Tineg, Abra

TINEG, Abra — Search and rescue operations for a boy who has been missing for nearly a week in Caganayan, Tineg, Abra, remain ongoing as authorities seek additional manpower to help locate him.

The missing boy, Markcliff, was with his brother, 9-year-old Octavious, when the siblings were reported missing in the mountainous area of Caganayan.

With the help of local authorities and community volunteers, Octavious was found dead at around 11 a.m. on September 4 at Mount Mabitog Asilip.

On the same day, the Tineg Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) clarified that only one of the two brothers had been found, correcting earlier reports that both siblings had been discovered dead in the mountains.

As of Wednesday morning, September 9, the Tineg MDRRMC told GURU Press Cordillera that the search for Markcliff remains ongoing.

The MDRRMC said it has requested additional personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to augment the ongoing search operations.

“On-going pa po ti search operations. We have asked augmentations from BFP and PNP,” the MDRRMC said.

Authorities and community volunteers continue to search the mountainous area in hopes of locating the missing boy.
