5-story ‘Umunnoyan’ Hospital soon to rise in Tinglayan

Tinglayan, Kalinga – Residents of Tinglayan will no longer have to experience the struggle of having to transport patients to other places with the soon to be constructed five-story ‘Umunnoyan’ Hospital.

Mayor Sacrament Gumilab, in his message during the ‘Chomchomog’ or traditional blessing of the new municipal hall on March 15, 2022, highlighted that the design of the ‘Umunnoyan’ Hospital was already submitted to the regional office.

The project, Gumilab said, is awaiting go signal to begin construction as it was assured of a P30 million initial funding from the Provincial Local Government Unit led by Governor Ferdinand Tubban.

As narrated by the mayor, Tinglayan LGU was challenged when the municipality was hit by COVID-19 pandemic. Patients needed to be ferried to Cagayan Valley Medical Center as nearby hospitals would no longer accept patients from the municipality due to bed capacity reaching its full number.

The hardship of the residents prompted the LGU officials to draft a plan for the construction of a municipal hospital which was then considered a dream but is now close to becoming into reality.

Gumilab added that he will continue to look for additional funding for the hospital.

Meanwhile, the construction of the three-story Rural Health Unit is ongoing near the municipal building which will be the biggest RHU yet in the entire province upon completion.

The RHU and the hospital, Gumilab stressed, will likewise assure employment of health workers in the municipality.
