61 yPinukpuk youth leaders participated in Youth Leadership Summit 2020

Pinukpuk, Kalinga―The Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) by Kalinga-Apayao Youth Organization (KAYO) of Pinukpuk in partnership with the 50th Infantry “Defender” Battalion provided empowerment training to 61 youth leaders from the barangays of Limos, Apatan and Ba-ay, Pinukpuk this November 22.


The Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) started in 2002 by the 204th Infantry Brigade of Philippine Army 2nd Infantry Division and later implemented in different places then adopted here in Kalinga. It was then implemented by the Kalinga-Apayao Youth Organization in 2013.


KAYO President Garry Tubban expressed the vision of the YLS as a transformed and empowered youth fulfilling their roles in building a morally and spiritually upright society.


“The highlight is the continuous changing of the security of the environment, the ongoing reprioritization of the government thrust, and the widening of opportunities for stakeholders. It aims to enhance the potential of the youth to become responsible citizens and catalysts in advocating peace and development,” he further stated.


Said summit is a 3-day series of lectures, interactive discussions and group activities focusing on various matters that aims to train skills, empower, capacitate and hone the youths of Upper Saltan to become better leaders and be able to advocate peace in their respective communities.


Meanwhile, Municipal Administrator Engr. Danzel Michael D. Langkit congratulated the youth leader participants for successfully completing the summit as the youths are the hope of the motherland, thus, he challenged them to strive for more and to engage in YLS related activities in order to be empowered and equipped youth leaders ready to address important development issues in their community.


During his message, Governor Ferdinand Tubban challenged the youth to become involved in activities of their communities and to pursue quality education, adding that as the future of the nation and the community they have the responsibility to make sure that they obey their parents and elders as well as not waste the support of the government to them.


“Dakayo ti future ti Pinukpuk… future ti Kalinga. As we do our part in supporting you, you ought to do your best and not waste the resources and support nga mait-ited kania yo,” said Tubban.


The Governor, in his message, likewise encouraged the youth leaders to press on with their dreams and work hard for a better tomorrow.


With the theme “Unleash and Empower; the Potential of Tomorrow’s Leaders”, the summit was facilitated by the KAYO and LGU of Pinukpuk in partnership with the 50th Infantry “Defender” Battalion together with the joint forces of 1st and 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company.
