BANGUED, Abra — A 64-year-old former driver of the Bangued municipal government died after his motorcycle crashed into an oncoming multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) in Barangay Sappaac, Bangued, Abra, on Friday morning, October 9.

The victim was identified as Reymundo V. Tagura Sr., a resident of the area who had served as a driver for the municipal government of Bangued for several years.

According to his wife, Tagura left their home that morning to feed their pigs.

Police said a person who had spoken with Tagura before the crash told authorities that the victim had complained of dizziness, possibly related to his hypertension.

Tagura was reportedly heading home to take his medication when his motorcycle began to swerve along the road.

The driver of the oncoming MPV noticed the motorcycle moving from one lane to another and pulled over in an attempt to avoid a collision.

However, the motorcycle still crashed into the vehicle just a few meters from Tagura’s residence.

The impact left Tagura with injuries to various parts of his body, including his head. He was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Bangued police chief PMAJ Greame Boy B. Javier reminded motorists to avoid driving when they are feeling unwell, noting that illness or physical discomfort can affect reflexes and increase the risk of road accidents.

Authorities continue to remind motorists to prioritize their health and safety before getting behind the wheel or riding a motorcycle.
