Lubuagan, Kalinga – A total of 674 rice farmers in Lubuagan received their P5,000 financial assistance on March 13, 2022 at the Eco-Tourism and Cultural Center in Barangay Poblacion, Lubuagan Municipal Agriculturist reported.

According to Charlie Osdeg, the beneficiaries are the rice farmers who are qualified to receive assistance from the excess rice tariff revenues in 2020.

He added that there were 747 rice farmers from Lubuagan who were supposed to receive the assistance, however, some were not able to go to the venue and get their money during the scheduled payout in the municipality.

What should the farmers who weren’t able to get their assistance do?

The qualified rice farmers who weren’t able to get their money should proceed to the Office of the Municipal Agriculture to get their stub and go to the nearest Universal Storefront Services Corporation (USSC) in order to get their P5,000.

Meantime, Osdeg clarified that qualified beneficiaries are those rice farmers registered to the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture with landholdings not higher than 2 hectares.

Department of Agriculture – Cordillera data showed around 12,000 rice farmers in the entire region were the beneficiaries of the Rice Farmers Financial Assistance from the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund.
