Tinglayan, Kalinga – Bridging the gap with access to medical care, Cordillera police and its partners conducted an outreach program for three barangays of Tinglayan on Tuesday, May 7, benefiting 688 individuals.
The team provided free medical and dental check-ups, tooth extractions and fluoridation, circumcision, and even free haircuts.
In addition to said free services, lectures focused on maintaining a healthy lifestyle were likewise held, along with an information education campaign on anti-criminality.
Benefiting barangays are Barangays Sumadel I, Sumadel II, and Belong Man-ubal.
The outreach program was made possible with the collaboration of the Regional Medical and Dental Unit (RMDU), the Kalinga Lumin-awa Medical and Dental Team, Kalinga Police Provincial Office, 2nd KPMFC, 50IB, 5ID, PA Mallango Patrol Base, Tinglayan Municipal Police Station, Tinglayan MHO and barangay officials.
In a press release, Cordillera police said the activity is one way of bringing government services closer to the community.
The organization saw the need for conducting such outreach to help address challenges individuals may have with transportation due to the barangays’ distance from the center, and also provide aid to those who cannot afford health care services.
The local government unit of Tinglayan led by Mayor Sacrament Gumilab, expressed gratitude to Cordillera and Kalinga police for the initiative and expressed hope that more of said activities would be conducted soon.
“By bringing essential services directly to the people, the outreach not only enhanced the health and well-being of the community but also strengthened the bond between citizens and the authorities, moving towards the shared goal of a safer Tinglayan, safer Kalinga, where residents can live and work with confidence and security,” Tinglayan LGU wrote.
