7 tourists transporting MJ in Kalinga arrested on Independence Day

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Seven tourists temporarily lost their freedom on Independence Day after they were brought to police custody in Tabuk City.


The suspects were arrested through a ‘police interdiction’ launched by the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency on Monday afternoon at Block 3, according to Kalinga police.


The operation was made after operatives were alerted of a supposed transport of marijuana from Tinglayan with a GL Grandia described to be ferrying the said contraband.

Through the checkpoint at Block 3, the subject vehicle was flagged down which resulted in the discovery of 38 suspected marijuana bricks worth P4,560,000; 2 ‘small yellow half-tape-wrapped bricks’ with the same substance worth P36,000.00; and a brown paper bag with MJ worth P1,200.


With the contraband, the seven occupants of the vehicle were arrested.


They were identified by the police as Sandy Alerta Legnes, 30; Raymond Abrea Nazareno, 33; Michael Tayo David, 25; Keneth Christian Buena Sum, 28; Matthew John Mirasol Milgate, 22; John Ashley Sevilla, 24; and Rhecel Sumayod Maribojoc, 21.


Legnes and Nazareno are from Santa Maria, Bulacan while the rest are from Angeles City, Pampanga.


The accused will be facing charges for Violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
