Abandoned NPA camp, war materials found in Abra


Tubo, Abra – Authorities found on Monday, November 27, an abandoned camp of the New Peoples Army in a remote area in Barangay Kili, Tubo, Abra.


The combined troops of the 143rd Special Action Company, 14th Special Action Battalion, Abra Police Provincial Office (PPO), Mt. Province PPO, and Regional Mobile Force Battalion discovered the camp following a minor internal security operation on the said barangay.

When they investigated the camp, they came across several war materials which include a PVC type anti-personnel mine, two pieces dynamite, four detonating chord, a handheld radio with charger, wirings, a solar panel, two dynamos, a grease gun and two cellphone chargers.


Apart from said items, subversive documents, some communication devices, tools, medicine kits and personal belongings were also found in the encampment area.


Confiscated materials were already brought to the Tubo MPS while the explosive devices found are at the Abra Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit for proper disposition.


Cordillera police said they are now conducting further search in areas near the abandoned camp for possible discovery of other subversive materials.


To recall, several high powered rifles of NPA rebels were also seized in the province recently following an armed encounter between government troops and rebels. This transpired on November 20, 2023 in Pacqued, Malibcong, Abra.
