“AGTATAKAW TI KALDING NAKALUGAN?”: Resort in Liwan, Kalinga ransacked, CCTV Smashed, 4 goats stolen

The family is appealing to the public for help and report any information that could help identify those responsible to the proper authorities.

RIZAL, Kalinga – Four goats were reported stolen from Yapa Resort in Barangay Liwan West, Rizal, Kalinga on August 30, 2026, after a house within the property was allegedly ransacked and its CCTV system destroyed.

Owner Jenelyn Banawag told GuruPress Cordillera that the damaged CCTV system could have helped identify who entered the property and took their animals.

Instead, the CCTV wires and monitor were reportedly destroyed, while the house lock was also damaged.

“Pinerdi da jay wire ti CCTV ken monitor mi, pinugsat da. Uray jay lock ti balay pinerdi da,” Banawag said.

The incident was discovered when their caretaker went to the property to feed the animals.

Banawag said the caretaker also noticed four teenagers walking around the property before reaching the house—something she found unusual because it was raining at the time.

“Idi napan jay caretaker mi idjay, adda ti nasabat na nga uppat nga barito ket idjay nga aldaw agtudtudo,” she said.

When the property was checked, the four goats were found to be missing.

Banawag also said several appliances and other belongings inside the house had been damaged or destroyed.

She suspects that more than one person may have been involved, pointing to what appeared to be tire marks from a four-wheeled vehicle near the property.

“Ti ammok ket haan lang nga maymaysa jay napan nagtakaw, kasi adda ti bakas ti pilid ti lugan idjay, pilid ti 4 wheels,” she said.

The family is now coordinating with authorities to determine who was behind the reported theft and property damage.

For Banawag, the incident also brought back memories of another reported burglary involving their family.

She said their farm in Barangay Ipil, Tabuk City, Kalinga, was burglarized around six months ago, with appliances and farm equipment reportedly taken. She said they eventually learned who was responsible for that incident.

At Yapa Resort, however, the family is still searching for answers—not only for the four missing goats, but also for whoever damaged their house and destroyed the CCTV system that could have provided crucial evidence.

Banawag also had a message for whoever took their goats:

“Kadakayo nga nagtakaw iti kalding mi, maamwam mi tu metlang nu sino kayo, kas idjay ibagak idjay post ko ti Facebook, dumakkel kuma ti buksit yu nga mangsida dita kalding,” she said.

The family hopes that their coordination with authorities will lead to the identification of those responsible and, if possible, the recovery of the four goats.

As of the interview, no suspect had been identified in connection with the reported theft and property damage.
