Aguinaldo farmers granted P1.2M farm equipment

Updated: Dec 4, 2022

Aguinaldo, Ifugao – Productivity output and income of an agrarian reform beneficiary (ARB) in Aguinaldo, Ifugao expects an increase with the provision of over P1.2 million worth of farm equipment.

The grant is part of the Major Crop-based Block Farm Productivity Enhancement under the Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support Project of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

In a press release, DAR – Ifugao explained the project targets the areas where ARBs and Non-ARBs are individually or collectively engaged in the production of major crops that primarily include rice, corn, and other crops such as bananas, pineapple, and vegetables.

As such, these crops were identified to be major products in a large area of land. It is assumed that the rate of production for the major crop is providing the needs of local or household consumption as well as surplus produce, the agency said.

Monggayang - Pinto Agrarian Reform Farmers Organization (MPARFO) at Sitio Manaot, Barangay Monggayang of Aguinaldo received a water pump, a 50-horsepower tractor, and a corn seeder, with an overall cost of P1,236,500 on Nov. 10 from the department.

In his talk during the turnover and thanksgiving ceremony, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II of the local agrarian department, Atty. Raul C. Laluan, shared the moral lesson of the Parable of the Talents.

“Daytuy nga parabur nga natanggap yu itatta ket haan nga nagapu ti DAR, inpadalan lang ni Apo Diyos ti DAR ken inusar nakami nga empleyado nga mangited kadakayu daytuy ta isu ti inkararag yu,” related Laluan.

The officer asked the recipients to take good care of the machinery for its purpose to be truly realized.

In response, MPARFO’s President Joseph Oman expressed gratitude for the grants and committed to making use of the equipment as intended.

DAR and MPARFO signed a trust agreement containing their duties and responsibilities during the same event.

Aguinaldo local government under the leadership of Mayor Gaspar Chilagan Jr. hope that modernizing the farmers by means of providing new equipment will yield a promising result for the advancement of farmers.
