Aguinaldo LGU recommends scenic Chalengay and Ongkhah Urha falls to tourists

Updated: Aug 17, 2022

Aguinaldo, Ifugao – If you are an adventure enthusiast looking for some impressive cascades and waterfalls, two scenic falls in the Municipality of Aguinaldo, Ifugao are highly recommended by the local government under the leadership of Mayor Gaspar B. Chilagan Jr.

The spectacular Chalengay and Ogkhah Urha Waterfalls are both located in Barangay Awayan and are said to be from the same water source.

To recall, guideline mechanisms and investment proposals for the opening of the falls were validated in May 2022.

Said spots were considered by the Validation Team as ‘promising tourism destinations’ especially to adventure seekers.

Having been compliant to the requirements, the falls were officially opened to all tourists beginning June this year.

For security purposes, having a tour guide from the barangay is required for visiting tourists.

“Chalengay is approximately 30 minutes hike from the highway while Ongkhah Urha falls is at one and a half hour river crossing hike from Chalengay,” Tourism Focal Person of Aguinaldo, Melissa Lapugan-Domingo said.

Fees

According to the tourism officer, an environmental fee of P30 each shall be collected from tourists. Also, a tour guide fee of P500 shall be paid per group.

Visitors may drop any amount of donation at the barangay.

“Ongoing pa kasi Barangay Ordinance nila for the entrance fee so for the meantime eh donation muna,” she disclosed.
